ကိုလိုနီလက္ေအာက္ခံနိုင္ငံ တစ္ခုျဖစ္ခဲ့ဖူးတဲ့ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံမွာ အတိတ္သမိုင္းေၾကာင္းေတြကို ျပန္လွန္ေျပာျပေပးမယ့္ သမိုင္းဝင္အထင္ကရေနရာေတြ အမ်ားႀကီးရွိပါတယ္။ အဲဒီထဲကမွ ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ေရာက္ရင္ မျဖစ္မေနသြားေရာက္ လည္ပတ္သင့္တဲ့ ထိပ္တန္းေနရာ (၁၀) ခုကို ေဖာ္ျပပါရေစ..။
ေနရာအမ်ားစုက ၿမိဳ႕ထဲဧရိယာဝန္းက်င္မွာပဲ ရွိေနတဲ့အတြက္ အဲဒီေနရာကပဲ စလိုက္ၾကရေအာင္ပါ။


၁။ ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ခန္းမ

ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ ခန္းမဟာ ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ရဲ့ အထင္ကရ ခန္းမႀကီးတစ္ခုျဖစ္ၿပီး ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ရဲ့ အလယ္တည့္တည့္ ဆူေလးဘုရားအနီးမွာ တည္ရွိေနပါတယ္။
ျမန္မာဆန္လွတဲ့ ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ခန္းမရဲ့ ပုံစံဒီဇိုင္းကို ျမန္မာဗိသုကပညာရွင္ႀကီး ဦးတင္ က ေရးဆြဲခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ခန္းမကို ၁၉၂၆ ခုႏွစ္က စတင္ေဆာက္လုပ္ခဲ့ၿပီး ဆယ္ႏွစ္အၾကာ ၁၉၃၆ ခုႏွစ္မွာ အၿပီးသတ္နိုင္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။

ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ခန္းမရဲ့ အဝင္ဝမ်က္ႏွာစာ တည့္တည့္မွာ ကေဒါင္း႐ုပ္ ရွိၿပီ တစ္ဖက္တခ်က္စီမွာ တိုးနယား တစ္ေကာင္စီ ၿခံရံထားတာက ထူးျခားလွပါတယ္။
အခုဆိုရင္ေတာ့ ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ခန္းမကို ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္စည္ပင္သာယာေရး႐ုံးခ်ဳပ္ အျဖစ္ ေတြ႕ျမင္ရမွာပါ။ ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ခန္းမဟာ မဟာဗႏၶဳလလမ္းေပၚမွာ တည္ရွိပါတယ္။

 


၂။ မဟာဗႏၶဳလပန္းၿခံ

အထပ္ျမင့္အေဆာက္အဦေတြ ဝန္းရံေနတဲ့ ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕လယ္မွာ မဟာဗႏၶဳလပန္းၿခံကေတာ့ စိမ္းလန္းတဲ့ အိုေအစစ္ေလးတစ္ခုလို ျဖစ္လို႔ေနပါတယ္။ အဂၤလိပ္ကို ပထမဆုံးေတာ္လွန္ခဲ့တဲ့ (၁၈၂၄ − ၁၈၂၆) စစ္သူႀကီးမဟာဗႏၶဳလကို ဂုဏ္ျပဳတဲ့အေနနဲ႔ မဟာဗႏၶဳလပန္းၿခံလို႔ အမည္မွည့္ခဲ့တာပါ။

ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕ေတာ္ခမ္းမရဲ့ အေရွ႕တည့္တည့္မွာ တည္ရွိတဲ့ ပန္းၿခံရဲ့ အလယ္မွာေတာ့ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံရဲ့ လြပ္လပ္ေရးအထိမ္းအမွတ္ ေက်ာက္တိုင္ႀကီး စိုက္ထူထားပါတယ္။ ယခင္က လြပ္လပ္ေရးေက်ာက္တိုင္ႀကီးရဲ့ေနရာမွာ အာေမးနီးယန္ စီးပြားေရးလုပ္ငန္းတစ္ခုက လက္ေဆာင္ေပးထားတဲ့ ဗစ္တိုးရီးယား ဘုရင္မႀကီးရဲ့ ႐ုပ္တုရွိခဲ့ဖူးပါတယ္။ ၁၉၄၈ ခုႏွစ္ ျမန္မာျပည္လြပ္လပ္ေရးရၿပီးေနာက္ပိုင္းမွာ ဘုရင္မ႐ုပ္တုႀကီးရဲ့ေနရာမွာ လြပ္လပ္ေရးေက်ာက္တိုင္ႀကီး စိုက္ထူထားခဲ့တာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

သစ္ပင္ပန္းပင္ေတြ ၿခံရံေနတဲ့ ပန္းၿခံထဲမွာ လူႀကီးေတြအပမ္းေၿဖ အနားယူနိုင္သလို ကေလးေတြအေနနဲ႔လည္း လြပ္လပ္စြာ ေျပးလႊားေဆာ့ကစားနိုင္တဲ့ စိမ္းလန္းတဲ့ ေနရာေလးတစ္ခုျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ညဘက္ေတြမွာေတာ့ အလွမီးမ်ားနဲ႔ အလွဆင္ထားပါတယ္။

 


၃။ ဗဟိုတရား႐ုံး

ေနာက္ထပ္သမိုင္းဝင္တဲ့ အေဆာက္အဦေနရာတစ္ခုကေတာ့ ဗဟိုတရား႐ုံးပဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ၿဗိတိသၽွတို႔အုပ္ခ်ဳပ္စဥ္အခ်ိန္အခါက တရားစီရင္ေရးမွာ အျမင့္ဆုံးတရား႐ုံးတစ္ခုပဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ပန္းဆိုးတန္းလမ္းမႀကီးေပၚမွာ တည္ရွိၿပီး မဟာဗႏၶဳလပန္းၿခံကေန လမ္းကူလိူက္တာနဲ႔ ေတြ႕ရမွာပါ။

၁၉၀၅ ခုႏွစ္က ဗိသုကာပညာရွင္ ဂၽြန္ရန္ဆမ္ က ပုံစံထုတ္ေဆာက္လုပ္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ၁၉၁၁ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ၿပီးစီးခဲ့ၿပီး အန္းဘုရင္မႀကီးရဲ့ အေဆာက္အဦပုံစံေတြကို သက္ဝင္နိုးႂကြလာေအာင္ မ်က္ႏွာေလးဘက္ပါတဲ့ နာရီစင္ကိုပါထည့္သြင္း တည္ေဆာက္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ၂၀၀၆ ခုႏွစ္ထိ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံရဲ့ အျမင့္ဆုံးတရား႐ုံးထိ အသုံးျပဳခဲ့ပါတယ္။

 


၄။ ဝန္ႀကီးမ်ား႐ုံး

ကနဦးက အတြင္းဝန္႐ုံးလို႔ေခၚဆိုခဲ့ၿပီး ဝန္ႀကီးမ်ား႐ုံးအျဖစ္ လူသိမ်ားထင္ရွားပါတယ္။ အုတ္ခဲအနီေရာင္မ်ားနဲ႔ ယူပုံသ႑န္တည္ေဆာက္ထားတဲ့ အေဆာက္အဦႀကီးဟာ သိမ္ျဖဴလမ္းမႀကီးနဲ႔ ဗိုလ္ေအာင္ေက်ာ္လမ္းၾကားမွာ ခန႔္ညားစြာ တည္ရွိပါတယ္။ ၁၈၀၀ ခုႏွစ္မ်ား ေႏွာင္းပိုင္မွာ တည္ေဆာက္ခဲ့ၿပီး ၁၉၀၂ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ၿပီးစီးခဲ့ပါတယ္။

အတြင္းဝန္မ်ား႐ုံးဟာ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံအတြက္ အေရးပါတဲ့ အေဆာက္အဦႀကီး တစ္ခုလည္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ၁၉၄၇ ခုႏွစ္ ဇူလိုင္ ၁၉ ရက္ေန႔မွာ အမ်ိဳးသားေခါင္းေဆာင္ႀကီး ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းနဲ႔တကြ အတြင္းဝန္ ၆ ဦး အစည္းအေဝးက်င္းပေနစဥ္ လုပ္ႀကံခံခဲ့ရတဲ့ ေနရာလည္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။
ပုံမွန္အားျဖင့္ ဝန္ႀကီးမ်ား႐ုံးကို ပိတ္ထားေသာ္လည္း ႏွစ္စဥ္ ဇူလိုင္ ၁၉ ရက္ေန႔ ေရာက္တိုင္း အမ်ားျပည္သူၾကည္ရွုေလ့လာနိုင္ေအာင္ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းရဲ့ ႐ုံးခန္းေနရာနဲ႔ အစည္းအေဝးက်င္ပခဲ့ရာ အခန္းတို႔ကို ဖြင့္လွစ္ေပးထားပါတယ္။

 


၅။ ဗဟိုစာတိုက္ႀကီး

ဗိုလ္ေအာင္ေက်ာ္လမ္းနဲ႔ ကမ္းနားလမ္းေထာင့္မွာ တည္ရွိတဲ့ ဗဟိုစာတိုက္ႀကီးဟာလည္း လက္ရာေကာင္းမြန္တဲ့ သမိုင္းဝင္အေဆာက္ဦအျဖစ္ တည္ရွိေနပါတယ္။ ဟိုယခင္က ဒီအေဆာက္အဦဟာ ဘူးေလာ့ရွ္ဘရားသား ဆိုတဲ့ ကုမၸဏီျဖစ္ပါတယ္။
၁၉၃၆ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ၿဗိတိသၽွအစိုးရက တစ္ဆင့္ျပန္လည္ဝယ္ယူခဲ့ၿပီး ဗဟိုစာတိုက္ႀကီးအျဖစ္ ျပဳျပင္ေျပာင္းလဲခဲ့ပါတယ္။ အဲဒီအခ်ိန္ထဲကေန ယေန႔အထိ ရန္ကုန္စာတိုက္ႀကီးအျဖစ္ တာဝန္ေတြ ထမ္းေဆာင္ေနဆဲ အေဆာက္အဦလည္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

 


၆။ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းေစ်း

ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေစ်းလို႔ အားလုံးသိၾကတဲ့ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းေစ်းကို ဟိုယခင္က စေကာ့ေစ်းလို႔ ေခၚပါတယ္။ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းလမ္းမေပၚမွာ တည္ရွိၿပီ အေရးပါတဲ့ ေရာင္းဝယ္ေဖာက္ကားရာ ေစ်းႀကီးလည္း ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။
ဒီေစ်းႀကီးကို ၁၉၂၆ ခုႏွစ္မွာ စတင္တည္ေဆာက္ခဲ့ၿပီး အဲဒီအခ်ိန္က ျမဴနီစပယ္လူႀကီးျဖစ္တဲ့ မစၥတာဂါဗင္စေကာ့ ရဲ့ အမည္ကို ယူၿပီး စေကာ့ေစ်းလို႔ ေခၚတြင္ေစခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ၁၉၄၈ ခုႏွစ္ ျမန္မာျပည္လြပ္လပ္ေရးရၿပီး ေနာက္မွာေတာ့ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းေစ်းလို႔ ျပန္လည္ေျပာင္းလဲခဲ့ပါတယ္။

ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕မွာ နိုင္ငံျခားသားေတြကို ဆြဲေဆာင္တဲ့ေနရာတစ္ခုျဖစ္ၿပီး ေရွ႕ေဟာင္းပစၥည္း၊ ေက်ာက္မ်က္ရတနာ၊ အဝတ္အထည္ ေဆးဝါး၊ စားအေသာက္ဆိုင္တန္းေတြနဲ႔ ခမ္းနားစြာ တည္ရွိပါတယ္။ အျခားေခတ္မီကုန္တိုက္ ေစ်းဝယ္စင္တာႀကီးေတြ ဘယ္လိုပင္ေပၚလာေနေစကာမူ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေစ်းကေတာ့ အရင္အတိုင္း စည္ကားေနျမဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

 


၇။ ရန္ကုန္ဘူတာႀကီး

ရန္ကုန္ၿမိဳ႕လယ္မွာ တည္ရွိၿပီး ၁၈၇၇ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ၿဗိတိသၽွပုံစံနဲ႔ တည္ေဆာက္ထားခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ဒါေပမယ့္ ဒုတိယကမၻာစစ္မွာ ဂ်ပန္တို႔ရဲ့ ဗုံးက်ဲဒဏ္ခံခဲ့ရၿပီး အေဆာက္အဦႀကီးဟာ ပ်က္ဆီးသြားခဲ့ပါတယ္။
၁၉၇၄ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ျမန္မာ့မူဟန္ဒီဇိုင္းလက္ရာနဲ႔ ျပန္လည္ျပင္ဆင္တည္ေဆာက္ခဲ့ၿပီး ၁၉၅၄ ခုႏွစ္မွာ အၿပီးသတ္နိုင္ခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ၁၉၅၄ ခုႏွစ္ ဇြန္လ ၅ ရက္ေန႔မွာ တစ္ဖန္ျပန္လည္ ဖြင့္လွစ္နိုင္ခဲ့တဲ့ ရန္ကုန္ဘူတာႀကီးဟာ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံမွာေတာ့ အႀကီးဆုံး ရထားဘူတာအျဖစ္ တည္ရွိေနပါတယ္။

 


၈။ ရန္ကုန္တကၠသိုလ္

ရန္ကုန္မွာ ေနာက္ထပ္ မျဖစ္မေန သြားေရာက္လည္ပတ္ ေလ့လာသင့္တဲ့ေနရာကေတာ့ ရန္ကုန္တကၠသိုလ္ပါ။ ကမာရြတ္ၿမိဳ႕နယ္မွာ တည္ရွိၿပီး ၁၉၂၀ ခုႏွစ္မွာ တည္ေဆာက္ခဲ့တာျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ျမန္မာျပည္မွာ သက္တမ္းအရင္းဆုံးနဲ႔ အထင္ရွားဆုံး တကၠသိုလ္တစ္ခုလည္း ျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

ဒုတိယကမၻာစစ္အတြင္းမွာ စစ္ဒဏ္ေၾကာင့္ တကၠသိုလ္ထဲက အေဆာက္အဦေတြ အေတာ္မ်ားမ်ား ပ်က္ဆီးခဲ့ပါတယ္။ ဘြဲ႕ႏွင္းသဘင္ခန္းမ၊ ဂ်ပ္ဆင္ဘုရားေက်ာင္း၊ သစ္ပုပ္ပင္နဲ႔ အဓိပတိလမ္းမႀကီးတို႔က ရန္ကုန္တကၠသိုလ္ရဲ့  အထင္ရွားဆုံးေနရာေတြပဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ေန႔စဥ္ နံနက္ ၉ နာရီကေန ညေန ၅ နာရီထိ ဖြင့္လွစ္ထားၿပီး အငွားကားနဲ႔ လာမယ္ဆိုရင္လည္း လြယ္ကူပါတယ္။

 


၉။ အမ်ိဳးသားျပတိုက္

နိုင္ငံတစ္ခုရဲ့ ယဥ္ေက်းမွုသမိုင္းေၾကာင္းေတြကို အေကာင္းဆုံး သိရွိနိုင္တဲ့ေနရာကေတာ့ အမ်ိဳးသားျပတိုက္ပါပဲ။ ျမန္မာတို႔ရဲ့ ေရွးက်သမိုင္းဝင္တဲ့ ယဥ္ေက်းမွု အေမြအႏွစ္လက္ရာေတြကို ရန္ကုန္အမ်ိဳးသားျပတိုက္ရွိရာ အမွတ္ ၆၆/၆၇ ျပည္လမ္းမွာ ျပသထားပါတယ္။ အမ်ိဳးအမည္ေပါင္း ၄၀၀၀ ေလာက္ကို တစ္စုတစ္စည္းထဲ ၾကည့္ရွူရမွာျဖစ္ၿပီး အဲဒီထဲက အမ်ိဳးေပါင္း ၃၀ ေလာက္ကို ျမန္မာ၊ အဂၤလိပ္၊ ဂ်ပန္ဘာသာတို႔နဲ႔ အေသးစိတ္ ရွင္းျပထားတာကို နားဆင္နိုင္ပါတယ္။

 


၁၀။ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းျပတိုက္

ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းဟာ ျမန္မာနိုင္ငံေတာ္နဲ႔ ျပည္သူမ်ားအတြက္ အသက္ကိုစေတးခဲ့တဲ့ ျမန္မာ့အမ်ိဳးသား သူရဲေကာင္းႀကီးတစ္ဦးျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ျပည္ေထာင္စုျမန္မာနိုင္ငံေတာ္ႀကီး ျဖစ္လာဖို႔ အုပ္ျမစ္ခ်ခဲ့တဲ့ ျမန္မာ့လြပ္လပ္ေရး ဗိသုကာတစ္ဦးအျဖစ္ ထင္ရွားသူျဖစ္ၿပီး ၁၉၄၇ ခုႏွစ္ ဇူလိုင္ ၁၉ ရက္ေန႔မွာ လုပ္ႀကံခံခဲ့ရပါတယ္။

ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းျပတိုက္အျဖစ္ ျပသထားတဲ့ အေဆာက္အဦဟာ ၁၉၂၁ ခုႏွစ္မွာ ေဆာက္လုပ္ခဲ့တဲ့ ေရွးက်တဲ့ ကိုလိုနီအေဆာက္အဦလဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းဟာ ဒီေနရာမွာပဲ ဇနီးျဖစ္သူ ေဒၚခင္ၾကည္၊ သားမ်ားျဖစ္ၾကတဲ့ ေအာင္ဆန္းဦး၊ ေအာင္ဆန္းလင္းနဲ႔ သမီးျဖစ္သူ ေအာင္ဆန္းစုၾကည္တို႔နဲ႔အတူ သူလုပ္ႀကံမခံရမီ ႏွစ္ႏွစ္အထိ ေနထိုင္ခဲ့ၾကတဲ့ ေနရာလည္းျဖစ္ပါတယ္။

ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ျပတိုက္ဟာ သူရဲ့ေန႔စဥ္အသုံးအေဆာင္ပစၥည္းေတြ၊ သမိုင္းဝင္ ခမ္းနားတဲ့ဓါတ္ပုံေတြနဲ႔အတူ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ရဲ့ အေငြ႕အသက္ေတြနဲ႔ ျခဳံလႊမ္းေနပါတယ္။ ျပတိုက္ထဲကို ဝင္လာရင္ ပထမဦးဆုံး ေတြ႕ျမင္ရမွာကေတာ့ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္စီးနင္းခဲ့တဲ့ ကားပဲျဖစ္ပါတယ္။ ျပတိုက္ထဲမွာေတာ့ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ရဲ့ အသုံးအေဆာင္ပစၥည္းေတြနဲ႔ ပရိေဘာဂေတြကို ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ရွိစဥ္ကအတိုင္းပဲ ေျခရာလက္ရာအပ်က္ ခင္းက်င္းျပသထားပါတယ္။ အခန္းတိုင္းစီမွာ သက္ဆိုင္ရာ ညႊန္ၾကားခ်က္ ဆိုင္းဘုတ္ေလးေတြနဲ႔ အေသးစိတ္ကိုလည္း ေဖာ္ျပထားပါေသးတယ္။

ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ေအာင္ဆန္းျပတိုက္ဟာ အမွတ္ ၁၅ ဗိုလ္ခ်ဳပ္ျပတိုက္လမ္း၊ ဗဟန္းၿမိဳ႕နယ္မွာ တည္ရွိၿပီး အဂၤါေန႔ကေန တနဂၤေႏြေန႔ထိ နံနက္ ၉ နာရီခြဲကေန ညေန ၄ နာရီခြဲထိ ဖြင့္လွစ္ျပသထားပါတယ္။ တနလၤာေန႔နဲ႔ အမ်ားျပည္သူပိတ္ရက္ေတြမွာေတာ့ ျပတိုက္လည္းပိတ္ပါတယ္။

Myanmar(Burma) has been British colonial for over hundred-year so there are many colonial era buildings which can tell history. Yangon has the highest number of colonial era building in South East Asia. Here are top 10 places you should visit in Yangon.

Most of the places are in downtown area so let’s start from downtown.

 

1.Yangon City Hall

Located on Maha Bandula road at the heart of the Yangon, next to the Sule Pagoda. The City Hall was designed by Myanmar architect U Tin. Construction started in 1926, after ten years of progress it was ended in 1936.

Yangon city hall is an impressive Myanmar triditional style building with tiered roofs called Pyatthat. You discover Myanmar decorative details such as green peacock above the central doorway and two green dragons took place each side of the wall. Nowadays, the building serves as the Yangon City Development Committee (YCDC).

 

2.Maha Bandula Park

High rise building and apartments are increasing day after day in Yangon downtown area. This expansion brings crowded urban spaces. Among all of these buildings Maha Bandula Park is a green oasis in the city of Yangon.

The park was named after General Maha Bandula who very first fought against the British (1824 -1826).

Maha Bandula Park located on Maha Bandula road, right in front of the Yangon City Hall. The Independence Monument was installed at the center of the park in 1948, replacing the statue of Queen Victoria which gifted by a wealthy Armenian firm in Yangon.

The park is covered with green trees, colorful flora and surrounded by landmark buildings such as Sule Pagoda, Yangon City Hall and High Court. People can sit, lie down or relax families can enjoy time together and there is also a baby playground and the beautiful fountain. Trees are decorating with colorful lights at night.

 

3.High Court

Another historical building is High Court, the highest seat of justice during the British colonial rule. It’s located on Pansondan Street just across the Maha Bandula Park.

It was designed by architect John Ransome, construction began in 1905. Completed in 1911, with a four faces clock tower which is Queen Anne revival structure housed the British court and then until 2006, the Supreme Court of Myanmar.

 

4.The Secretariat

Secretariat building is also known as the Ministers’ Office. Located on Thein Phyu Road, Victorian structure building constructed with a redbrick and U-shape. Construction began in late 1800s and completed in 1902.

On 19 July 1947, the National leader General Aung San and six cabinet ministers were assassinated during the meeting of Executive Council at the Ministers building. Currently, the building is closed to the public. However, each year on the anniversary of his death, General Aung San’s former office and the room where he and his cabinet were gunned down are open to the public.

 

5.General Post Office

Located at the corner of Bo Aung Kyaw Street and the Strand road. General Post Office is also one of the finest example of architectural heritage. It was the headquarters of Bulloch Brothers & Co before. The British government bought the building and convert into General Post Office in 1936. Today the building is still remain as the Yangon Central Post Office.

 

6.Bogyoke Aung San Market

Bogyoke Aung San Market was previously called Scott’s market. It is a major bazaar in Yangon, located on Bogyoke Aung San Road.

Bogyoke market was build in 1926 named after the Mr. Gavin Scott (Municipal Commissioner of the time). After Burmese independence in 1948, it was renamed after Bogyoke Aung San.

It is one of the tourist attraction in Yangon. Many variety shops sell jewellery, antiques, handicrafts and clothing, but also medicine, garments and all kinds of food. Although other modern style shopping malls are arising around downtown area Bogyoke Market is still popular and crowded.

 

7.Yangon Central Railway Station

Located in downtown area it was initially built in 1877, building was designed in the British Victorian style. But destroyed in World War II by Japanese bombers. And rebuilt the new one at the same place from 1947 to 1954 in traditional Burmese style.

The Grand opening ceremony of the Yangon Central Railway Station was held on 5 June 1954. It is a largest railway station in Myanmar.

 

8.Yangon University

Another must visit place in Yangon is Yangon University. It was build in 1920 and located in Kamayut township. It is the oldest and famous university in Myanmar. In World War II many of the University buildings were damaged.

Convocation Hall, Jusdon Church, Thit Pope Tree and Adipadi Road are the most outstanding places in University campus. It is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm everyday and can easily take a bus or taxi.

 

9.National Museum

In every country, National Museum is the best way you can find the their own culture, Yangon National Museum is the same where Myanmar's ancient heritage and culture are on display. Location at No. 66/67 Pyay Road. There are over 4000 items on display, and more than 30 have detailed audio explanations in Myanmar, English, Japanese and Chinese. 

The National Museum Yangon is open Tuesday to Sunday from 9:30 am-4:30 pm and closed on Mondays and Holidays.  Admission fee is $5 per person.

 

10.Bogyoke Aung San Museum

Bogyoke Aung San is the national hero of Myanmar people who sacrificed for the nation and country. He is known as the leading architect of Myanmar independence, the founder of Union of Myanmar who was assassinated on July 19, 1947.

“Bogyoke Aung San Museum” which is a colonial-era villa, built in 1921 and Bogyoke stayed there with his family, wife Daw Khin Kyi, sons, Aung San Oo and Aung San Lin, and daughter, Aung San Suu Kyi, about two years before his assassination.

The Museum is influenced by Bogyoke's life, such as his equipage, family living styles, great photos, his activities and his personal belongings in the Museum. The car used by General Aung San is very first thing to see at the Museum.

In the museum, the household furniture set up as it was during the time Bogyoke lived and the details about each room are described with maps making it easy to explore the museum.It is located at No.15, Bogyoke Museum Lane, Bahan Township. It is open at 9:30 am-4:30pm from Tuesday to Sunday but on Mondays and public holidays are closed.
